the buzz magasin april 2009 issue

NGAYON ko lang na-realize na kahit pala associate editor ako ng The Buzz Magasin ay hindi na ako nakapagsusulat ng anumang articles dito, and I’m just doing what I am suppose to do—ang mag-edit ng mga submitted articles ng aming mga contributors, and from time to time ay magbigay ng opinion kung ano ang mga pagbabagong dapat gawin.
Sa mga unang isyu ng The Buzz Magasin noong umpisahan ito year 2003 ay laging marami akong sinusulat na articles, usually mga banner stories pa. Kumpara sa pagsusulat sa komiks, paperbacks, literary magazines and newspapers, I found out that writing showbiz articles was also some sort of a leap of faith. Napapasok mo ang teritoryo ng mga celebrities, nalalaman mo ang kanilang pagiging mortal sa kabila ng kasikatan. Bagong karanasan iyon sa akin noon, and it was amusingly fun.
At one point I decided that I should put my showbiz writings on hold and simply concentrate on editing chores.
Sa isyu ngayon, April 2009, na lalabas middle of this month ay nagsulat muli ako ng dalawang articles; a three-page tribute to the Pinoy king of rap Francis Magalona who passes away a couple of days ago, and a report on the much heralded reunion concert of the Eraserheads. Sana nabigyang-katarungan ko ang mga nasabing articles. Well, Tintin, our managing editor was so touched by my Francis M article that she lifted my last paragraph there and posted on her online journal.
On Saturday and Sunday (March 14-15), the whole staff of The Buzz Magasin will have a teambuilding and workshop to be held somewhere in San Pablo City. Medyo malapit siguro kina Ka Gerry Alanguilan, pero hindi namin siya aabalahin at baka makagat kami nina Boney at Milky—his now two famous dogs. If we wanna see the famous komikero in flesh, maybe the staff should attend in one of his komikero meetings.
Anyway, the teambuilding and the workshop are the much needed tools in our plans to reformat our magazine starting next issue para lalong mag-enjoy ang mga kapamilya at mga kapuso. Habang umaasa ako na makapagsulat muli ng maraming showbiz articles, target naman ng team na madoble o matriple ang aming circulation—na sa tingin ko ay hindi naman masyadong mataas na goal.
