current comics read
I’m currently reading Valentine by Daniel Cooney. Hindi ako mahilig mag-search ng info about the writers/artists kaya wala akong masyadong input about this comics creator.
I like the narratives and the dialogues, and the illustrations remind me of the works of the many young illustrators hanging around at Atlas Publishing in the early 90s na hindi nabigyan ng break dahil matigas ang mga karakter.
Anyway, here’s the teaser:
“Can an assassin ever quit the business? Meet Dana Valentine, a gun for hire—who abandoned her profession for a clean slate at life. She has taken shelter with an Italian restaurant owner who saved her life at one time. Now, burdened with debt and the Russian mob on his back, he’s in the brink of losing it all. Can a former assassin risk all to save another? New problems abound for Valentine, bringing her past full circle and the decision the outcome of her future—if she survives to have one first.”
Story by Daniel Cooney and A. Daniel Lewis (Mortal Coils)
Art by Cooney, P. Palmiotti (Aquaman), Joe Fauvel (Assassins Guild) and Darren Merinuk.
Some of the illustrations also remind me of the works of our friends Ner Pedrina and John Becaro.
A good read though…
